Exploring Ayame

I had fun exploring Ayame, deconstructed by CZT Emiko Kaneko, a lovely organic tangle with a focal point of a dot or an orb.

This tangle pattern can be drawn and explored in many different ways. But the basic pattern starts with an “S” curve and then has additional auras into the pattern.

Here’s the basic step-out to the tangle:

In our recent Tangle Transformation Project 2021, we explored Tangle Ayame in many different ways.

I am taking some “variations” we applied during the Tangle Transformation Project for anyone who wishes to try it out. Here I have used a pre - watercolour background hexagonal-shaped zentile and mapped it using the Zentangle Method.

HexZen zentiles are available in my shop here.

Ayame with lots of auras in a map-tangling technique.

From my old stacks of artworks. In the third picture, I show you Ayame with some mookas and batiki.

And in another example (below), I have drawn on the Regular White Zentile and coloured it using Prismacolour Premier pencils. These days I am experimenting with some different colour shades and combinations (Color Palette shown as in pic).

To be frank, I do not enjoy using apple green/bright green colour in any of my Zentangle(R) Artwork; as it is too bright on the paper; but this time I decided to let go of my old habitual perception of what I like or dislike about colour and just dive into playing and have fun with it. In the end, I quite liked like the result. and this zentile looks pleasant and beautiful when held in hand.

If you are a video person, you may check out my youtube video tutorial; wherein I drew Tangle Ayame in one of my sketch/journal book.
