HeartiZen2022 - The Second

What is HeartiZen?

Heart-i-Zen as it stands out is all about celebrating love. The Letter “I” stands for the small “i” within us that needs me-time and nurturing; so, when at the right moment, it blooms, grows and eventually spreads happiness all around.

My Inspiration:

Last year, this time of the year, I and my husband often went out for some nice, casual outings in the night after our dinner. Sometimes drink some hot chai, and order out the season’s best hot omelette pav (buns) & onion pakodas (onion fritters). On one such day, I pondered our 13 years (then) of marriage; and all along, we had our own bit of riff-ruff moments; but then at one point, we began to grow, we evolved; we learned how to nurture one another when any one of us is having our lowest days. I also noticed his grey hairs; some wrinkles on my hands; realized we are growing old and someday we would no more exist. We would never be able to catch up on either our past or tomorrow and what I have of now is “how” I decide to celebrate this love and friendship. Yes, of course, I can celebrate “moments of love”.

This understanding inspired me to work on HeartiZen2021 – The First series. To remain with my intentions, I used to take all my drawing zentiles, drawing pad and my toolkit with some colour pens and went out in my colony’s park; sit there under a bench and draw in silence for hours together. I did not mind taking long walks; picking up some flowers; or dried leaves, and glancing at them for patterns and colours. I would also get some eye-rolls from adults (who consider art as a hobby meant for kids and not elders). Sometimes kids would come around and sit with me to watch the drawings. This continued for 6 beautiful days until I got a hang of the concept and the idea fully, and there I had pages and pages of beautiful tangles with hearts.

HeartiZen2022 – The Second

This year, I have chosen a few Tangle patterns that inspired me to add hearts; is what I call “finding hearts”. Each of these tangle patterns is complete and beautiful in itself and it was such a pleasure and creative outlet for me to play with them for HeartiZen2022.

This year, we “find hearts” and play with the following Tangle patterns:
